Sunshine Cleaning, a heartfelt and funny film of complicated family dynamics and life’s bizarre twists, released on March 13, 2009, features big hitters Amy Adams, Emily Blunt, Alan Arkin, Steve Zahn and Clifton Collins Jr. Thanks to Sunshine Cleaning hair designer Voni Hinkle who used Redken products on set, everyone’s hair style on set lasted all day and was protected from the bright camera lights and hot New Mexico sun for during the all day shoots.

Spring Hair Forecast and Low-Cost Maintenance Tips from Tom Brophy Salon

Spring Hair and Color Forecast Plus Low-Cost Maintenance Tips fromStylist Rex Dador and Colorist Michelle Vance of Tom Brophy Salon .

Spring signals longer days and warmer weather as well as a desire for lighter and brighter colors, with the looks in fashion defined by couple of new lengths for short hair and long hair, as well as bolder more natural looking tones for haircolor.

According to Rex Dador, Stylist at Tom Brophy Salon in Beverly Hills, “Cuts are getting shorter–pixie length–like that of Rihanna or Victoria Beckham, and we will see lots of bobs such as Taraji P. Henson’s graduated bob look at the 2009 Oscars. Bobs are timeless, versatile and can be easily modified from trendy to classic by cutting layers or leaving the hair one length.” For long hair, he foresees it to be more mid length, with fuller bangs or fringe. “Jessica Alba wears this look on the March Elle magazine cover. Bangs add edge to long hair and they are cut much fuller this season,” he adds.

ghd ROCKS the runway for Matthew Williamson!

ghd Runway Report Fall 2009 New York Fashion Week: MATTHEW WILLIAMSON Hair lead: Paul Hanlon for ghd.

“Chic. Graphic. Minimal.”

The Look: Straying from the typical bohemian style of collections past, Matthew Williamson wanted a whole different look for his latest collection. The result: graphic prints, structural designs, and a spectrum of vibrant colors and textures.

The ghd Way: Smooth, sleek, multi-textured hair polished to perfection.

First the ghd Directive Team prepped the hair with ghd thermal protector, dampening each section, to protect the hair from heat styling while retaining its moisture. This helped to create the perfect base for the ultra sleek style.

An extreme side part was created on either side of the head as a small amount of ghd obedience cream was applied throughout the hair. The hair was then blow-dried to a smooth finish using the ghd ceramic brush.

Heat Styling Q&A With GUIDO Redken Creative Consultant

Here are some tips about heat styling by GUIDO Redken’s Creative Consultant:

There are so many different sized curling irons-how do I know which one to choose?
It depends on two things. First, you need to decide what size curl you want to create. Second, you have to account for the fact that the curl will loosen throughout the day-you should choose a barrel that’s slightly smaller than the size of the curl you want. For loose waves, I find 1-inch curling iron works best. At first the curls might appear a bit too tight, but they’ll loosen up perfectly.

How can I prevent flat-ironed hair from looking lifeless?
Apply a heat protectant product like iron silk 07 ultra straightening spray to each section before you flat-iron. Hair that’s continually exposed to heat without any protection will end up looking dull, damaged and lifeless. The other trick is to kick the ends out. Just turn your wrist slightly as you’re bringing the iron down to the end of the section. It gives you movement and texture, so hair doesn’t look so severe.
