The Japanese Skincare Revolution by Chizu Saeki

Japanese women seem to be always stylish and have beautiful skin. I often wish for that porceline skin myself. Now we can all find out the secrets to their beautiful skin thanks to a new book by Chizu Saeki The Japanese Skincare Revolution How to Have the Most Beautiful Skin of Your Life -At Any Age.

Japan’s top beauty expert and lifelong aesthetician Chizu Saeki reveals some quick and simple skincare techniques from her new book The Japanese Skincare Revolution (Kodansha International, March 2009. $19.95). Available at amazon.com and barnesandnoble.com.

The Japanese Skincare Revolution by Chizu Saeki is the Japanese woman’s skincare bible. Auther and beauty guru Chizu Saeki shares with the world, for the first time, the natural, low-cost techiniques she developed over a career spent in the beauty industry. With it, you’ll learn what today’s Japanese women do to keep their skin looking young and healthy.

Here is an interview with Leading Beauty Expert Chizu Saeki Author of The Japanese Skincare Revolution.

Why did you choose the skincare industry for your profession?
When I was 13 years old, I saw Audrey Hepburn in a film catalog, and I was amazed that such a beautiful person could exist. This is what aroused my interest in beauty. I began imitating her looks, and gradually I realized what a wonderful thing it is to become beautiful. I quit the clerical job I had been working and enrolled in a beauty school to help others achieve beauty.

How are Japanese and American women different in their approaches to skincare?
Japanese women generally want to whiten their skin. When I lived in the U.S., I got the impression that Americans are more interested in hair design and don’t get hung up on details-brown spots, open pores, and such. They look to a more holistic kind of beauty.

Catherine Zeta- Jones Beauty Secrets

She might be the face of Elizabeth Arden cosmetics, but Catherine Zeta- Jones is happy to use her own homegrown beauty secrets. Such as rubbing honey and salt on her skin to beat wrinkles, washing her hair in beer and brushing her teeth with a strawberry.

In an interview, the 39-year-old actress admits that the answer to preserving her youthful appearance lies as much in her kitchen as her make-up bag. ‘I rub a mixture of honey and salt all over my body to moisturise and exfoliate,’ she says.

‘You wash it off and your skin is gorgeous. Also, I love to eat an apple after a meal, just to cleanse my teeth – they always look polished afterwards.’ If there aren’t any apples in the fruit bowl, a strawberry will suffice. ‘The juice or pulp of strawberries contains malic acid which serves as an astringent and can lighten surface stains,’ she explains. ‘ Pineapples work the same way.’ The Swansea-born mother of two, who now lives in Bermuda with her actor husband Michael Douglas, became the global face of Elizabeth Arden in 2002 after signing a £5million contract.

How To Get America Ferrera’s Look at 2009 SAG Awards

America Ferrera’s Look By Linda Hay The 15th Annual SAG Awards.

This year at the 15th Annual SAG Awards America Ferrera’s make-up was inspired by her beautiful Vera Wang beige chiffon gown, with black trim accented by a giant flower at her hip. Linda Hay wanted her make up to have a fresh and romantic feel, yet very modern to compliment the gentle nature of her dreamy gown. Therefore she decided on a very simple eye, a peachy cheek and a deep red lip.

Linda began creating her look by lightly evening America’s complexion using YSL’s Touche Eclat where necessary, around the eyes, the nose and the corners of the mouth, followed by a light dusting of powder. She then applied Shu Uemura’s “Peche” directly to the apple of the cheek for a fresh, youthful look.

How To Get Kate Winslet’s Hairstyle at the 2009 SAG Awards

This year at the 15th Annual SAG Awards, Kate Winslet’s glamorous low bun and side swept bang as seen on the red carpet was created exclusively by Frederic Fekkai stylist Renato Campora using Fekkai products.

Kate Winslet’s Hairstyle: A low bun that is soft and elegant with a touch of modernity.

How to get Kate Winslet’s hair style: Apply FEKKAI MORE ALL DAY DENSITY MOUSSE to wet hair for added volume. On the bottom portion only apply FEKKAI COIFF MAGNIFIQUE to ends for a smooth blowout and to protect hair from the heat of styling tools. Using the FEKKAI EXTRA LARGE ROUND BRUSH blow dry hair and part on the right side.

Based on Leroy Aarons’ landmark book, Bailey stars as the romantic interest of Bobby Griffith (Ryan Kelley), a closeted gay teenager whose profoundly religious mother drives him to commit suicide due to her inability to accept his homosexuality. “Prayers for Bobby” has its World Premiere on Lifetime January 24, 2009, and also stars Henry Czerny, Austin Nichols, Carly Schroeder and Susan Ruttan.

Bailey previously starred as the lead role of “Roman” in 62 episodes of My Network Television’s one-hour dramatic series “Saints and Sinners.” He is best known for his three-year series regular role starring as “Sandy Foster” on the CBS daytime drama, Guiding Light. Scott Bailey’s first starring role was opposite Virginia Madsen in the LIFETIME original movie, “Just Ask My Children”. His other roles include having appeared in “The First Day”, “Dawn of Our Nation”, MTV’s Undressed, Walker, Texas Ranger, Chicken Soup for the Soul and a guest star role on the hit series Law and Order: SVU.

In this interview Scott Bailey talks to Marta Walsh about his passion for acting and first big breaks, his role as David in Prayers for Bobby with Sigourney Weaver, why he looks up to George Clooney and Clint Eastwood, Backlight a new film he shot last fall, plans for the future, and even shares some style secrets.

Marta Walsh: How did you decide on a career in acting and what were some of your first breaks as an actor?
Scott Bailey: I was a bit of a shy kid and had never really done any acting until I took an acting class at UCLA while working toward my PhD in Mechanical Engineering. I figured an acting class would help me present my research without clamming up and sweating profusely. It helped and then some: through acting I found an incredibly creative and expressive outlet as well as a means to explore humanity and life! Playing pretend and telling stories has enriched my life greatly and I have been lucky and blessed to make a living at it!!
