Aveda lead stylist Odile Gilbert created a soft, romantic “flat chignon” using Aveda Control Force Hair Spray at the Jason Wu Fall/Winter 2010 Fashion Week show in New York.

“The Jason Wu hair look for this season is all about charm—this is a look of romance and innocence. I took inspiration from Holly Hunter in the film, “The Piano.” –Odile Gilbert for Aveda

Q: What is the inspiration for your collection? What is the look you are capturing?
“This season, I was inspired by Irving Penn’s photographs—especially the platinum prints. I wanted to reflect Penn’s own personal style in my collection, as well as his body of work.”– Jason Wu

Q: You have made a real effort to “green” your show this season. How do you feel about this accomplishment?
“In addition to my collection having a somewhat earthy inspiration and theme, keeping the entire enterprise eco-friendly is of the utmost importance to me. By using “green” products backstage and keeping waste to a minimum, the fashion community can do their part to lessen their environmental impact.” – Jason Wu

Diane Kruger at the 2010 SAG Awards

GET THE LOOK: Nominee Diane Kruger’s glamorous asymmetrical Jason Wu gown (which BTW Marta loves Diane’s dress! Best Dressed for sure!) was the inspiration for the soft, romantic side-chignon that celebrity stylist Mark Townsend created for the 2010 SAG awards.

“I started by taking a small amount of Moroccanoil Treatment and finger combed it through Diane’s dry hair” explained Townsend. “The original Moroccanoil is super light-weight and absorbs right in, to give the hair amazing shine without weighing it down.

Michelle Obama Wears a Yellow Dress by Isabel Toledo & Inaugural Ball Gown Designed by Jason Wu

I just can’t get enough of the beautiful Obama family. I loved Michelle Obama’s dress at the Inauguration Day. The yellow color gave me a sense of a brand new sunny day, which is full of promises. Michelle accessorized the dress with green gloves from J. Crew and green shoes. With today’s shaky economy it’s nice to see that even a first lady is not afraid to mix and match. And we can all relate to her! Besides, I’m a huge J. Crew fan, the manager at the J. Crew store here in Scottsdale, AZ, knows me by my name and always greets me when I arrive. So cute. Michelle Obama brings modern chic and fresh look to a first lady.

Michelle Obama’s Inaugural white Ball Gown Designed by Jason Wu gave me a sense of a clean slate or a new beginning, since white is such pure color. The dress seems also modern and fresh. Beautiful!

I’m fascinated with the Obama family, same as with the Kennedys and Princess Diana.

First Lady Michelle Obama chose to wear a yellow dress by Isabel Toledo on the historic Inauguration Day 1/20/09. “I didn’t want a traditional blue or red,” Toledo told the AP. “That color has sunshine in it. I fell in love with it. So did she.”

Michelle Obama’s Inaugural Ball Gown Designed by 26-year-old designer Jason Wu. “It’s soft, feminine, but powerful; I wanted to convey all that in a dress,” Wu told The Associated Press of the ivory, one-shouldered dress embellished with Swarovski crystals and fabric petals. “I wanted it to look like a sign of hope.”
