How To Get That Straight of the Runway Look With AVON
We are going backstage with AVON to learn how to get that “straight off the runway” look, inspired by the Fall 2008 Cynthia Rowley Runway Show:
Hair: The hair created by Avon Global Stylist Advisors Allen Ruiz, Anthony Barrow and Chie Sugwara was inspired by the romance of the Cynthia Rowley Collection. Ruiz and Barrow wanted to keep the girls looking beautiful with very soft romantic hair. The look is matte in texture for movement on the runway, and shiny to keep with the romance of the collection.
The team used Avon Advanced Techniques Volumizing Mousse on damp hair focusing on the roots to create a volume foundation and gave the models’ hair shine throughout. Hair was blow dried using the Advance Techniques Two-Sided Oval Brush. To add texture and volume to the hair the Advance Techniques Extra Hold Hair Spray was used while blow drying and back-combing the hair with the Advanced Techniques Flair Styler Brush. Finally, they applied a mist of Advance Techniques Mirror Shine Spray to create a “halo” effect at the crown adding to the contrasting of textures of smooth crown and texturized full body.

The Low Ponytail-“Those girls who know they look great with their hair pulled back should definitely rock this look for fall,” says Riggio. “Before you gather your hair and pull it all back, section out a piece of hair at the nape of the neck. After you pull your hair away from your face, brush it with a Mason Pearson brush-every woman should invest in one. This will ensure that the hair visually moves backwards and remains uniform. Tack slicked hair into place with light hairspray to prevent flyaways. Fasten the ponytail with a clear hair band, then take the hair that’s sectioned out and wrap it around the ponytail, using a bobby pin to fasten.”

Guido designed and executed the hair at more than 30 shows including Marc Jacobs, Donna Karan, Versace and Louis Vuitton and has put together his top hair trends for the coming season inspired by the shows. Guido takes us to the back of the head, where we will be seeing knots, twists, ponytails with a spice of 1960s glam, 1920s sophistication and a touch of the future.
Guido-Hair Stylist for Redken.
A fresh take…”The back of the head is huge this season. We’re seeing knots, twists, ponytails-it’s a blend of 1980s glam, 1920s sophistication and a touch of the future.”
A glam finish…”We saw a lot of roughed-up, matte textures last season. Now, we’re moving on to styles with high shine. It’s a controlled look, a return to a woman who’s more demure-but at the same time she’s strong, confident and sexy.”
A streamlined silhouette…”This season, it’s all about minimalism. We’re seeing smaller, more subdued styles. Hair is pulled back close to the head and styled in a clean, simple way.”
-GUIDO
Here are Guido’s for Redken top four hair trends for the Fall/Winter 2008 season:
Intense Shine: High Gloss Looks With A Plasticized Finish: Shine returns to the runway in full force, after last season’s parade of ultra-matte textures. Hair stayed close to the scalp, in sedate slicked-back styles with a lacquered finish. As seen at: Alice Temperley, Calvin Klein, Christopher Kane, Halston, Jonathan Saunders, Kisa, Lanvin, Miu Miu, Prada, and Pringle.
TIPS:
1. To get the slick finish seen at Prada: Blow-dry hair straight, then smooth hardwear 16 super strong gel from roots to ends (applying gel to dry hair creates a lacquered effect). Pull hair into a bun and apply glass 01 smoothing serum for extra sleekness.
2. For a blow-dry with extreme shine, mist on forceful 23 super strength finishing spray section-by-section and blow-dry hair with a Mason Pearson brush. Reapply the spray to your finished style for a sleek, plasticized effect.
3. Finish any style with a mist of vinyl glam 02 mega shine spray-it adds extreme shine without weighing down fine hair.

Hot To Get The Look: Kim Kardashian and Khloe Kardashian Lips
Ever wondered how to get the look of Kim Kardashian’s and Khloe Kardashian’s lips?
In my recent interview with Khloe Kardashian for Beauty Interviews about her beauty secrets, Khloe revealed that her and her sister, Kim Kardashian, are obsessed with NARS Lip Gloss in Turkish Delight ($24). I take notes, because I love how both Kim and Khloe have the most luscious and fullest lips.
The best lip-gloss I ever owned…
“My sisters and I are obsessed with Nars in Turkish Delight. We love it. Kim and I are obsessed with it. I’m so much lighter than Kim, but it still looks so good on both of us.”-Khloe Kardashian.
