CHANEL Introduces Collection Noirs Obscurs

Ahead of her time as an arbiter of style and color authority, Mademoiselle Chanel recognized and revered the color black as a symbol of luxury, modernity, sophistication and seduction. Today, Peter Philips creates a tribute to black with an avant-garde collection of trend-defining eye, lip and nail shades, uncovering the many nuances and undertones of this iconic shade. While these statement-making tones are more daring than demure when worn together, they can easily achieve a quiet elegance when color is limited to either the eyes, lips or fingertips.

ROUGE ALLURE LUMINOUS SATIN LIP COLOUR Limited Edition: Three limited-edition shades of the iconic lipstick exemplify the seductive feel of the collection. The lip colors are an enigmatic play on noir, each with a different, nuanced undertone. $30.00 MANIAC HYSTERIA OBSCURE

QUATUOR BOUTONS DE CHANEL QUADRA EYE SHADOW Limited Edition: Nowhere is black’s mystique more strikingly expressed than on the eyes. A shade quartet of deep green, mahogany, midnight blue and dark violet — embellished with the coveted CHANEL signature — creates a dramatic, yet sophisticated look. $60.00

How To Get Vanessa Williams Makeup Look at the Emmy Awards 2009

At this year’s Emmy Awards, Vanessa Williams went for all-out glamour. She chose a dress with lots of color and her hair was down, long and loose, for the first time in three years. To balance out the look, legendary makeup artist Sam Fine focused on a flawless skin with a pop of color in the cheeks and lips.

“It all starts with great skin,” says Fine. “It’s a long night, with long hours and we don’t get to go with them. Foundation and powder are so important.”

To get Vanessa’s great face, Sam started with cream foundation. “Cream foundation will last throughout the night,” states Sam. Next, he used bronzer to contour the face, drawing attention to each feature.

Vanessa’s dress made Fine to do a little shopping. “Because Vanessa’s dress choice was such a strong color, this forced me to re-address the neutrals I had in my kit,” admits Fine. “I wanted to go for a little more color in the cheek, as well as the lip, so I needed to find the perfect coral-pink shade, because true pink can be hard to wear.”

Armani Beauty’s A-Team Gets NYC Glam for Fashion’s Night Out

Celebs were hitting the streets of New York City last night to celebrate Fashion’s Night Out. Giorgio Armani Beauty’s A-Team was also out last night – getting top stars glam for a preview dinner for the Richard Hambleton exhibition, which will open September 15 and was presented by Vladimir Restoin Roitfeld and Andy Valmorbida in collaboration with Giorgio Armani.

True to the Armani aesthetic the A-list guests including, Bruce Willis and wife Emma Heming, Kerry Washington and Devon Aoki were outfitted in understated, elegant looks. The makeup was classic and featured strongly lined eyes and pinkish-nude lips. See below on how to get the looks from these celebs last night:

Emma Heming (above image next to Bruce Willis): Luminous Silk Foundation 7 gave Emma a dewy complexion and fluid sheer 11 was dabbed on to her cheeks to add a rosy glow. Her lids were dusted with Maestro Eye Shadow XX and Smooth Silk Eye Liner was blended along the lash line to create a dramatic smoky effect. A sweep of Eyes to Kill Mascara and a wash of nude lip shimmer were added as finishing touches to her natural glam look.

Kerry Washington: Lasting Silk UV SPF 20 Foundation 9 was swept across Kerry’s face to create a matte complexion, with subtle luminosity. To add dimension, blending blush duo 4 was used for contouring and added a pop of color on the cheekbones. To add a touch of drama, maestro eyeliner and Eyes to Kill Mascara were used to define the eyes and a sweep of Lip Shimmer 59 in taupe completed the look.

Devon Aoki: Face Fabric 3 offers sheer coverage and allowed Devon’s natural glow to shine through. Sheer Bronzer 5 was applied to the cheekbones to define her look and give her complexion a sun-kissed effect. Eyes to Kill Palette 1 offers taupe and grey shades, which were used to create a subtle smoky eye with liquid liner and a sweep of mascara added to complete the look.

How To Apply Lancôme Ink Artliner in Indigo Charm With Sandy Linter

On my recent trip to New York City I visited the Lancôme boutique on Upper West Side, which was a totally luxuriating (Marta just made this word up) experience. I love makeup and I love Lancôme so as you can tell it felt like heaven to me, lol. The icing on the cake was being introduced to Lancôme’s top celebrity makeup artist Sandy Linter, an industry icon. She’s worked on more celebrities and supermodels than any artist around. She was recently awarded an Elle Genius Award (check out the April 2009 issue of Elle!) and there’s a great interview with her in the April Allure that’s part of the gorgeous “Coming of Age” story featuring Cindy Crawford.

When chatting with Sandy, she told me she did makeup for Sigourney Weaver! Sandy also did the makeup charts for the Austin Powers movie. Yes, yes…cool stuff!

I was thrilled when Sandy Linter offered to makeover my eye makeup, particularly my eye liner. She told me I almost got it right however with my eyes being a bit roundish she suggested I change my eye liner application technique. She recommended Lancôme Ink Artliner in Indigo Charm and to go for a softer eye makeup look. She took off my black eye liner and gave me the following tips on how to apply Lancôme Ink Artliner in Indigo Charm:
