Redken’s Fall/Winter 2009 Haircolor Forecast & Redken’s New Color Gels Ash Blue
As temperatures begin to cool down outside, so will haircolor this fall/winter season with more sophisticated cooler brunettes and blondes. Tracey Cunningham, Redken Creative Consultant for Color, and David Stanko, Haircolor Consultant for Redken, have the latest in fall haircolor trends, professional haircolor products to achieve these trends, and consumer tips to communicate with their colorist and to adjust to the “coolest” looks of the season.
“Small adjustments can help consumers update their look from season to season,” explains Cunningham. “When summer comes to a close, I plan to cool my clients’ shades down this fall/winter season with Redken’s new Color Gels Ash Blue creating sophisticated, cool shades. A color is said to have “cool tones” if it tends toward blue or violet, such as platinum blondes, ash browns, and plum reds.”
Trend #1: Brunettes: “Brunettes will go to a whole new level this fall/winter with an overall cooler base. Think Fergie’s shade; her lighter highlights really show through her dark, chestnut base making her haircolor look so flawless and effortless.” – Tracey Cunningham
Trend #2: Blondes: “Blondes will be blonde this fall – think Drew Barrymore’s cool, nearly platinum blonde shade for this inspiration. Client’s can often be concerned with the cost to achieve and keep the perfect shade of blonde, but I find that women cut back in other areas rather than haircolor as it’s one of a consumers’ most prominent and most seen everyday accessory!” – Tracey Cunningham

Fall Hair Trends by ghd Ambassadors
Who is better to ask what’s hot when it comes to hair this fall other than the hair stylists who spend their time doing hair for the runway, ghd Ambassadors: Omar Lopez, Craig Carter, and Andy Bodine.
ghd Ambassadors Omar Lopez, Craig Carter, Andy Bodine, were kind enough to share with Talking Makeup their take on Fall Hair Trends:
From Omar Lopez, ghd Media Ambassador: Movement Is Back with Curling Just The Ends
Movement is back in, but this season, the focus is all on curling just the ends of the hair which is simple and sleek and easy to do. Prep the hair with ghd fat hair lotion and blowdry. The product is heat activated and works the same way mascara does on lashes, using rayon micro fibers to pump up each strand. Play up overall volume by applying from roots to ends, then follow with a little more on just the ends of the hair. This will plump up ends and allow for long lasting fat curls.
Omar Lopez styling Audrina Patridge
Use the ghd IV styler to straighten the length of the hair, then when you reach the ends, turn the styler 180 degrees to create a slight curl. Finally, use just your fingers to ruffle up the ends to create a slightly tousled look and you have one of the hottest looks for fall!
From Craig Carter, ghd Creative Ambassador: Sleek Straight Ponytails With Natural Shine
How To Get Sienna Miller’s Hairstyle At The GI JOE Premiere
Adir Abergel for Frederic Fekkai styled Sienna Miller’s hair for the GI JOE: The Rise of Cobra premiere in Los Angeles.
Inspirarion: Adir wanted to create a modern day Veronica Lake look that had wonderful movement and softness with lots of shine and bounce.
To Get Sienna Miller’s Hairstyle: Adir started by creating a very strong side part. To form a perfect side part, follow the arch of the eyebrow to the back of the head.
Adir then applied FEKKAI ZERO-HUMIDITY FRIZZ CONTROL from the roots to ends; next he applied FEKKAI BOUFFANT only at the roots to add a little body. He then blow-dried the hair with a round brush to create the perfect texture.
Once the hair was completely dry, he took a 1 1/4 curling iron and curled her hair, and then pinned it in place. He did not curl the hair at the root, because he wanted the top of the hair to stay smooth, but wanted to give the rest of the hair body.
After curling, he then let the hair cool down for 10 min and took out the pins. He brushed out the curls with a FEKKAI CLASSIC BRUSH for the perfect smoothness, softness, and bounce.
Get The Look: Sienna Miller at the U.S. premiere of G.I. Joe
Sienna Miller was wearing CHANEL Beauté makeup at the U.S. premiere of G.I. Joe, Thursday, August 6, Los Angeles, CA.
Here is how to get Sienna Miller’s makeup look at the U.S. premiere of G.I. Joe:
Makeup Artist Kate Lee: Beauty Inspiration: “Sienna was really keen to embrace the spirit of old Hollywood for the premiere of GI Joe at the Chinese Theatre. The dress was a glamorous YSL silk chiffon encrusted with beads in a kind of neutral colour. ”
Beauty Tip:”Adir Abergel and I wanted to create a look that would be classical but modern. It was Sienna’s idea to go with a strong lip. I kept the rest of the make up very neutral, gently sculpting the cheek bones with a mixture of Soleil Tan de CHANEL and CHANEL Powder Blush in Tempting Beige. The eyes were clean and simple to bring the attention to the lip. I used CHANEL Éclat Lumière in Beige Rosé all over the lid and then shaded in the sockets with CHANEL Soft Touch Eyeshadow in Sand. I spent quite a bit of time on the brows to lengthen them, and after lashings of Exceptionnel de CHANEL in Smoky-Noir, I added both individual and cut up strip lashes. The lips were a mixture of two CHANEL Rouge Allure shades, Fatale and Obscure, both launching this Fall.”
