How To Get Hayden Panettiere’s Makeup Look at the Emmy Awards 2009

Celebrity Makeup Artist Amy Oresman created Neutrogena brand ambassador Hayden Panettiere’s look for the 2009 Emmy awards, where Hayden presented the award for Best Reality Host, and shares how you can achieve this glam look at home.

Amy’s Inspiration: Hayden sought a classic red lip to match her gorgeous J Mendel gown, so I looked to her Italian heritage, and her recent vacation in Italy, for inspiration and designed a look you’d find on glamorous women in Rome.

Prep: I believe in the old adage that “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” so careful attention was paid to Hayden’s skincare prior to the Emmy’s. Hayden’s choice is skin iD, personalized acne system from Neutrogena Dermatologics

Eyes: To give Hayden’s lashes maximum impact I used three coats of the NEUTROGENA Healthy Volume Mascara in Carbon Black.

Marta Walsh Interviews With Bailey at Makeover Momma

Last week during New York Fashion Week I met fabulous Bailey Vincent Clark editor of www.makeovermomma.com at the Jill Stuart Spring 2010 fashion show. While we were waiting for the show to start, Baily ignored all the celebrities and “the beautiful people” attending the show just to interview me. Incredible! Bailey wanted to know all about my beauty secrets as a mom of 2 boys: Jake (3) and Kieran (1).

New York Fashion Spring 2010 Trend Report: Maria Grachvogel

The Show: Maria Grachvogel
Lead Artist: James Boehmer, NARS Cosmetics International Lead Makeup Artist
Trend: Bold Red Matte Lips and Strong Brows

Inspiration: Maria Grachvogel used iconic references of Princess Margaret as photographed by Lord Snowden and Tippi Hedren in “Marnie” to convey the mood of her collection in a modern way- polished yet glamorous.

Look: The look is polished and strong- inspired by a glamorous and modern twist of Hitchcock’s femme fatale. “This look is not about the glowing skin underneath- it’s about the makeup- the brows need to be long and sketchy and the lips need to be rounded and bee-stung,” said lead artist James Boehmer. A flat, matte lip paired with a strong brow was balanced by a bare eye. “The lip,” James warns, “has to be really rich and vibrant- the focus is getting that rich lip otherwise the look can appear as if something is lacking.”

Below are some key products and steps for recreating the look:

New York Fashion Week Spring 2010 Hair Trends: Carolina Herrera

The Show: Carolina Herrera

The Trend: Fine-textured low twisted chignons with touches of delicate long strings of intricate seed-beads swept throughout strands of the hair.

The Inspiration: The Carolina Herrera Spring 2010 collection was inspired by intricate forms woven in Japanese baskets. The texture of the fabrics and prints was taken from patterns found in the details of these baskets. Colors including amber, rose and caramel were drawn from the waning light cast at the end of a summer’s day, with the luminous quality of this light reflected in the fabrics and embroidery used for evening.

The Hair: Orlando Pita, using Moroccanoil, created beautiful, fine-textured low twisted chignons with touches of delicate long strings of intricate seed-beads swept throughout strands of the hair. The looks, created with Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream, highlighted smooth elegance with a natural ease, texture and flow.

“We used argan-oil infused Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream to prime the hair and give it a natural-looking, frizz-free texture with a soft hold,” noted Pita. “The beads were designed to blend subtly through the hair; appearing almost as if they’re embedded in the strands themselves.” Pita plays with texture and keeps the look relaxed and piece-y, without stiffness or tight structure (Tip: Rather than using a brush to blow-dry strands, Pita mussed hair with his fingers as he blow-dried to enhance the tresses’ natural separation and create further definition.)

New York Fashion Week Spring 2010 Trend Report: Rebecca Minkoff

The Show: Rebecca Minkoff
The Trend: Strong enhanced brow
The Color Story: To compliment a structured, high fashion collection incorporating a mostly black and off-white color palette, the makeup look features a matte complexion, nude/neutral lip and cheeks and a strong, enhanced brow.

The makeup look backstage at Rebecca Minkoff Spring 2010 was created by Sephora PRO Beauty Team, lead by Jose Rivera

How to Get the Look:
• Complexion – Try Sephora “Tricks of the Trade” Anti-Shine Primer and Mineral Matte Setting Powder to create a flawless canvass.
• Brows – To create sculpted, well-defined brows use the Sephora Collection Brow Tint Pen to create this structured look.
• Lips – To complete the look, apply Maniac Mat Long-Wearing Matte Lipstick in Mat 07, a matte peach.

Armani Beauty’s A-Team Gets NYC Glam for Fashion’s Night Out

Celebs were hitting the streets of New York City last night to celebrate Fashion’s Night Out. Giorgio Armani Beauty’s A-Team was also out last night – getting top stars glam for a preview dinner for the Richard Hambleton exhibition, which will open September 15 and was presented by Vladimir Restoin Roitfeld and Andy Valmorbida in collaboration with Giorgio Armani.

True to the Armani aesthetic the A-list guests including, Bruce Willis and wife Emma Heming, Kerry Washington and Devon Aoki were outfitted in understated, elegant looks. The makeup was classic and featured strongly lined eyes and pinkish-nude lips. See below on how to get the looks from these celebs last night:

Emma Heming (above image next to Bruce Willis): Luminous Silk Foundation 7 gave Emma a dewy complexion and fluid sheer 11 was dabbed on to her cheeks to add a rosy glow. Her lids were dusted with Maestro Eye Shadow XX and Smooth Silk Eye Liner was blended along the lash line to create a dramatic smoky effect. A sweep of Eyes to Kill Mascara and a wash of nude lip shimmer were added as finishing touches to her natural glam look.

Kerry Washington: Lasting Silk UV SPF 20 Foundation 9 was swept across Kerry’s face to create a matte complexion, with subtle luminosity. To add dimension, blending blush duo 4 was used for contouring and added a pop of color on the cheekbones. To add a touch of drama, maestro eyeliner and Eyes to Kill Mascara were used to define the eyes and a sweep of Lip Shimmer 59 in taupe completed the look.

Devon Aoki: Face Fabric 3 offers sheer coverage and allowed Devon’s natural glow to shine through. Sheer Bronzer 5 was applied to the cheekbones to define her look and give her complexion a sun-kissed effect. Eyes to Kill Palette 1 offers taupe and grey shades, which were used to create a subtle smoky eye with liquid liner and a sweep of mascara added to complete the look.
