At Cynthia Steffe, Bumble and bumble lead stylist Rolando Beauchamp gave models a clip-on faux bang to help embody the late 1960’s cool British/French girl inspiration. “We’re doing a really thick fringe, but the texture on the hair is dirty, like two-day old hair,” he said. The slept in texture added to the cool girl feel, giving models a messy-sexy hairstyle that was retro without being too literal.

Looks like it’s time to break out the Manic Panic. The big beauty trend for hair at Fashion Week was bright, chunky streaks of color that brought to mind punk-inspired street style circa 1996. At the Cynthia Rowley Fall 2010 fashion show, Eva Scrivo for Wella Professionals custom colored hair extensions in shades of emerald, lapis, amethyst, navy and turquoise to replicate the rich jewel tones present in the collection. Each hair extension was completely saturated with professional salon haircolor and then woven into the hair and styled, creating an element of surprise and intrigue when models hit the runway. Apply Advanced Techniques Volumizing Mousse by Avon to hair that has been dried straight, evenly distributing create a sturdy base for the style. Use a comb to create a deep diagonal part that extends from the hairline just above outside corner of one eye to crown.

First, prep the hair by applying Fekkai Full Blown Volume Lifting Hairspray ($23) at the roots. Next blow dry the whole head with your hands to create texture and bring out the natural wave. Follow by taking a round brush and blow dry the bangs forward and to one side.

GET THE LOOK: Jennifer Lopez dazzled at the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards, wearing a dramatic silver Versace gown, and 70’s-inspired hair designed by stylist Robert Vetica. Volume and texture were the hallmarks of the all-one-length, below the shoulder look.
Vetica started by applying Moroccanoil Treatment on wet hair and blow-dried it smooth, creating a middle part using a large round brush for volume. He then used a 1″ curling iron, curling each section, and dragging the curled spirals down. He started in the back, working towards the front of the head and lifting her hair away from the face.
