Anne Hathaway at the “Alice in Wonderland” London Premiere
Anyone who loves makeup is excited about Friday’s opening of Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland.” Lancôme ambassador Anne Hathaway portrays the White Queen, a role she was perfect for given her porcelain complexion.
Anne Hathaway’s gorgeous skin was the focal point of her look at the London premiere of the film last week (as you can see in the picture below). Makeup artist Kate Lee did the honors and also focused on Anne’s radiant eyes and smile. The dress, in case you’re wondering, is by Vivienne Westwood.
Lancôme & Latina Celebrate Arlenis Sosa
Arlenis Sosa Latina magazine March 2010 Cover and Lancôme: The radiant Arlenis Sosa, one of Lancôme’s favorite spokesmodels, was feted by Lancôme and Latina magazine on Monday night, Feburary 22nd, 2010. The party celebrated Arlenis’s cover story in the March 2010 issue of Latina (image below).
The fun party, which was held at The Lancôme Boutique on NYC’s Upper West Side, attracted quite a crowd. Makeup artist Scott Barnes was there, as were pop star Kat DeLuna and MTV’s Julissa Bermudez—fellow Dominicanas there to cheer on Arlenis. (We were especially loving Kat’s dramatic black eyeliner and glossy lips, which was done by Scott himself.) The team behind the cover—photographer Marc Baptiste and makeup artist Rene Garnes—also dropped by. Arlenis was thrilled to see designer Luis Menieur there, too. After all, he did launch her modeling career after discovering her in Santo Domingo!
Arlenis looked radiantly chic in a Bordeaux-colored Alexander Wang mini-dress. The Lancôme Boutique’s Ewa Szwed did Arlenis’s makeup for the party here are the Lancôme products used:
Daniel Martin Lead Lancome Makeup Artist and Marta Walsh
Going backstage at Chris Benz fashion show during New York Fashion Week is always exciting to me because I know I’m going to get to see and chat with Lancome’s fabulous lead makeup artist Daniel Martin. Just a reminder, Daniel and fashion designer Chris Benz were the brilliant minds behind one of Lancom’e best selling lipstick (and Marta’s all time favorite) Chris & Tell. If you’re into makeup like myself, Daniel is the best guy to pick his brains about it. Needless to say, he is always so sweet to me! Thanks Daniel. xo

Michelle Phan Interviews With Marta Walsh
I met YouTube sensation Michelle Phan backstage at the Chris Benz Fall 2010 fashion show during New York Fashion Week. Michelle was there as part of her work with Lancome and the Lancome makeup artistry team creating the makeup look for the Chris Benz show. The sound in the video is not best but I’m way too excited to leave this video interview with Michelle Phan in the back burner. Hope you understand:) xo Marta

Lancôme & Chris Benz Go Gothic Chic for Fall 2010
New York Fashion Week Fall Winter 2010: Seattle native and downtown New York denizen Chris Benz saw all of his influences collide in a spectacular way on Monday, Febuary 15, 2010, for his Fall 2010 presentation. The collection mixes the patterns, textures and utility of clothes made for the Great Outdoors as worn by the renegade, Outward Bound Debutante.
Makeup Tutorial: Lead makeup artist Daniel Martin (who helped create the Chris & Tell shade with the designer for Spring 2010) wanted a “makeup” makeup look, so he and Chris settled on what they’re calling Gothic Chic. The eyes and the lips were given equal attention. The eyes were smoky in gradations of shimmery charcoal and chocolate. Daniel used the new Ombre Magnétique, a mousse-like cream shadow, in black, layered with Color Design Eye Shadow in Guest List, an opaque espresso shade. For the lashes, several coats of Hypnôse Drama Mascara in Excessive Black, and for the eyeliner, Le Stylo Waterproof EyeLiner in Noir along the waterline, completed the look.
Lancôme & Victoria Beckham Fall 2010
Victoria Beckham received rave reviews today for the gorgeous collection of dresses she showed yesterday, February 16, 2010, and the makeup was equally praise worthy. Victoria wanted minimal makeup, but with maximum impact. The result: nude lips, silvery eyes and shimmery skin.
Makeup Tutorial: For the makeup, Francelle did a modern take on 1930’s Hollywood glamour (in keeping with Victoria’s “Dick Tracy” inspiration for the clothes) so she paired a metallic eye with a pale, nude lip. First, Francelle swept Color Design Eyeshadow in Optic on the entire lid to the brow bone and added Color Design Eyeshadow in Crème Lustré to the lower lid. Ombre Magnetique in Silver (coming this fall 2010!) was used in the crease for a shiny, metallic finish. The new Hypnôse Drama Mascara coated the top lashes only. The skin was dusted with Ageless Minérale Powder in Translucent for a luminous complexion. Blush Subtil in Miel Glace was applied lightly to the cheekbones for an added touch of color. For the lips, Francelle first dotted them with concealer (a great trick for ensuring you get a super nude pout with staying power) then applied L’Absolu Rouge Lipstick in Rich Cashmere. The nails were short and groomed with just clear nail polish and the hair, by Didier Malige, was pulled back in messy version of a French twist.
Lancôme & The Row Fall 2010
The Row, the collection designed by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, had its Fashion Week debut yesterday, February 16, 2010, at a gallery on New York’s west side. The line has earned a following for its simple yet sophisticated structured pieces and the new collection continued beautifully on that theme.
Makeup Tutorial: Lancôme’s creative director for makeup Aaron De Mey keyed the show. Aaron sought an exaggerated yet natural makeup look that focused on strong, defined brows and a dewy complexion. The neutral color palette meant that skincare played an important role. To prep, Aaron used Lancôme Eau Fraiche Douceur Micellar Cleansing Water and followed it with Lancôme Genifique Youth Activating Concentrate massaged generously into the skin; this duo gave each model a luminous complexion. Lancôme Le Crayon Poudre filled and defined the brows—a focal point of this look. To finish, Aaron dabbed Lancôme Effeacernes Concealer on the lips, a trick that removed the natural lip color and kept the focus squarely on the brows.
Everyone backstage and front of house was obsessed with the braided black Louboutin sandals made exclusively for the show. (And the models were clearly happy to get a break from all the skyscraper heels!) Mary-Kate and Ashley chose a deep wine colored polish –Lancôme Le Vernis in Untamed Plum – for the toes, but kept the fingernails clean and shiny with a coat of clear nail polish.
Chris Benz Signing Chris & Tell Lipsticks
Chris Benz Signing Lancôme’s Chris & Tell lipsticks tomorrow at Saks NYC! Are you looking for the Chris Benz Chris & Tell lipstick, here’s one of their last chances to get it. Chris is doing a personal appearance at the Saks Fifth Avenue Lancôme counter in Manhattan tomorrow 2/18/2010. Chris will be signing lipsticks and sharing the inspiration for his Spring 2010 collection. Saks is the official retailer for Chris & Tell and this is one of the only counters that has any lipsticks left (and only because a special batch was reserved for Chris’s P.A.!).
Chris & Tell, as you may know, was created specifically for the Chris Benz Spring 2010 presentation held in September 2009. Since its debut earlier this month, it’s become one of the fastest-selling lipsticks in the Lancôme Pout-à-Porter designer lipstick series. Six hundred of the lipsticks sold on lancome-usa.com in just 48 hours. Beauty aficionados have already snatched up most of the supply and some have already popped up on eBay.
Julia Roberts and Anne Hathaway at the Los Angeles Valentine’s Day Premiere
Makeup Tutorial: It was a lovefest in Los Angeles last night at the premiere of “Valentine’s Day.” The star-studded flick, directed by Garry Marshall, features a bevy of A-list beauties, including Lancôme ambassadors Julia Roberts and Anne Hathaway. Here, their makeup artists fill us in on what they used to create their red carpet looks.
For Julia Roberts, celebrity makeup artist Genevieve wanted to balance sexy, lined eyes with a muted mouth. Genevieve lined Julia’s eyes with Lancôme’s Artliner in Noir. Next, she swept Sweetie, a sheer pink shadow from Lancôme’s Color Design Eye Shadow Quad in Haute Sunset, along the lids. Dirty Pink, from the same quad, went on the crease. Loads of Hypnôse Drama Mascara in Excessive Black completed the eye look. For the lips, Genevieve lined with Lancôme’s Le Lipstique in Fraichelle followed by the new Color Design Matte lipstick in Pink Preview (coming in March). To dilute the lipstick color, Juicy Tubes in Tickled Pink was applied for a soft pout.
