Giorgio Armani Beauty’s NEW Smoky Eye

“What is attractive in a woman is a certain self-assuredness… it is in her eyes that one senses her strength” –Giorgio Armani

Fashion and beauty synonymously influence each other. While Spring fashion will be in full swing under the tents in Bryant Park come September, the runways of Fall 2009/Winter 2010 will soon be coming to life! While the beloved black smoky eye is coveted by all women, a new twist was added this year to give it a fresh and just-as-chic look – royal purple! As seen on various runways, the purple smoky eye was paired with both nude and intense lips. For Giorgio Armani’s Fall 2009/Winter 2010 fashion shows, feminine, yet intense smoky eyes with hints of purple and bold red lips ruled the catwalk.

Giorgio Armani Beauty Fall 2009/Winter 2010 runway show. The Look: The Purple Smoky Eye

Right on trend, Giorgio Armani Beauty introduces the Eyes to Kill eye shadow palettes in four shades, including Gun Metal Grey – a daring grey center surrounded by gun metal grey wrapped in a royal purple. Tim Quinn, Giorgio Armani Beauty’s Celebrity Makeup Artist, says “Purple is the new black when it comes to smoky eye. It is just as intense as black, but in a more subtle and daring way that still creates the allure of the sexy, smoky eye.”

“FAME” Star Kay Panabaker Interviews With Marta Walsh

Few weeks ago I was given an incredible opportunity to interview actress and FAME star Kay Panabaker. It was such pleasure chatting with Kay over the phone. She came across as extremely intelligent, witty, and very dedicated young woman. She completed her BA in History from UCLA before she turned 18! And, she is beautiful. Watch out Hollywood!

Kay gave me the biggest compliment: “Thank you for an intelligent interview and questions. I’m not used to those. I’m used to ‘What’s your character like’ and ‘Whose the most famous person you have in your cell phone’. I appreciate this interview, it was great.”-Kay Panabaker.

Thank you Kay!

Kay Panabaker plays the role of “Jenny” in the upcoming film FAME, a movie based upon the 1980 film which follows NYC talent attending the New York City High School for the Performing Arts, (Known today as Fiorello H. Laguardia H.S.) The Movie “FAME” is in theatres September 25th, 2009 (USA).

I caught up with Kay one afternoon this summer to chat about her love for acting. Her charcter “Jenny” in the upcoming film “FAME”. How she finds the balance between life and an acting career. Kay even reveald to me what’s in her makeup bag and future plans.

Marta Walsh: Why have you decided on a career in acting? How did it all began for Kay?
Kay Panabaker: My sister (Danielle Panabaker) and I kind of fell into acting. She and I used to do the same activities, like dancing. We would then take the same dance classes, and then the same print work and commercials. That was back in Georgia. When we moved to Chicago we started to do more theatre. One of our agents then recommended that we should move to LA. My mom was very skeptical. She told us it was a crazy idea and that we will never make it. So in a way I fell into acting, but I’ve been loving it pretty much from the beginning. When I was 10 I hardly even watched TV, so I don’t how I discovered the love for acting and movies.

MW: How do you find the right balance between school and enjoying life as a young woman and at same time working in Hollywood? What advice can you give to young aspiring actors and actresses?
KP: School and education are very important to me and I believe it is possible to do both. Just because you want to be an actress doesn’t mean you can’t go to school. I started community college when I was 13. I used to go to work during the day and go to school at night. I would do my homework in whatever spare time I had. Sure there is a sacrifice. I gave a bit on a social life but I made it work, and I’m so thankful that I did. I now have a degree I can fall into. I have more options. I got my degree so young I can even still go back to school if I decide do. There is nothing I can’t do!

Twilight Beauty Line

L.A. Beauty Firm Launches “Twilight” Line. Harry Haralambus is a rare name, but it is popping up pretty often these days in the Southern California beauty industry.

In the last two years, Haralambus’ investment firm, Lambus Partners, quietly acquired Los Angeles area cosmetics brands DuWop Cosmetics and Lola Cosmetics, skin care brand Leaf & Rusher and manufacturer All About Beauty Cosmetics Inc. for undisclosed sums. ImaStar Corp., a company under Lambus Partners, also secured the license to produce makeup affiliated with the “Twilight” series of movies and is piggybacking on Marc Jacobs’ fragrance business by allowing Coty Inc., the fragrance licensee for Lola Cosmetics, to use the moniker Lola for Jacobs’ newest perfume.

The Twilight beauty franchise has been separated into two lines. Volturi Twilight, named for a ruling vampire clan in the “Twilight” series, is aimed largely at teens and is launching the middle of next month at Hot Topic, Torrid and Ulta. Luna Twilight, a play on the moon themes in “Twilight,” is targeting older girls and teenagers’ mothers and is launching in the middle of next month at Nordstrom and Dillard’s. DuWop is also a part of the Twilight initiative and has introduced the lip stain Twilight Venom for $16 on Sephora.com. Prices for Volturi’s 21 stockkeeping units run from $9 to $19, and prices for Luna’s 35 sku’s are $18 to $34.

Lauren Hutton Face Disc

Introducing Naturals By Lauren Hutton: Think:  Naturally ageless makeup.

In the days of the “Mod” look (60’s heavy HEAVY makeup!), she quietly, cover by cover, snuck in the natural look, and kept it! When she returned to modeling at age 47, Lauren Hutton had created her own makeup in her kitchen. Existing cosmetics contained strong pigment, heavy filler, mica and pearl for collagen plumped-water-filled youthful skin. They made her look older and artificial, instead of natural. Eight years ago, after a near-death motorcycle accident, she finally had the time to make it for all women and wanted it to be fast, easy and pragmatic with the best ingredients, while remaining affordable for everyone.

• The original color-coded face disc has sold close to 1 million units now.
• The sensible evolution was to go to (100%!) all natural formulas.

With Naturals by Lauren Hutton, women don’t have to choose between anti-aging care and natural ingredients. Naturals by Lauren Hutton was developed to meet the rigorous standards of the Natural Products Association, providing naturally efficacious makeup products.
