How to Get Amy Adams Hairstyle From the “Julie & Julia” Premieres

Matrix celebrity stylist Mark Townsend created Amy Adams’ beautiful red carpet hairstyles for both the Los Angeles screening and New York premiere of “Julie & Julia.”

For the New York premiere of “Julie & Julia,” Matrix celebrity hairdresser, Mark Townsend, wanted Amy’s hair to be modern and glamorous to match her Carolina Herrera gown. “I’ve been very inspired lately by hairstyles from the 80s with lots of volume,” said Townsend.

Mark started by spraying Biolage volumatherapie Bodifying Spray Gel into Amy’s damp hair…

…and blow dried it with a medium size Spornette Mixed Bristle round brush to get a good deal of volume in her hair. Next, he set her hair with hot rollers, making sure to wrap the hair around the roller from roots to ends to give it a nice wave. Once the hair was cool, he removed the rollers and brushed out her hair with a flat brush, parting it to the side. To add some texture and shine, he sprayed Biolage Shine Endure Spritz into her hair and gave it a scrunch.

Redken’s Fall/Winter 2009 Haircolor Forecast & Redken’s New Color Gels Ash Blue

As temperatures begin to cool down outside, so will haircolor this fall/winter season with more sophisticated cooler brunettes and blondes. Tracey Cunningham, Redken Creative Consultant for Color, and David Stanko, Haircolor Consultant for Redken, have the latest in fall haircolor trends, professional haircolor products to achieve these trends, and consumer tips to communicate with their colorist and to adjust to the “coolest” looks of the season.

“Small adjustments can help consumers update their look from season to season,” explains Cunningham. “When summer comes to a close, I plan to cool my clients’ shades down this fall/winter season with Redken’s new Color Gels Ash Blue creating sophisticated, cool shades. A color is said to have “cool tones” if it tends toward blue or violet, such as platinum blondes, ash browns, and plum reds.”

Trend #1: Brunettes: “Brunettes will go to a whole new level this fall/winter with an overall cooler base. Think Fergie’s shade; her lighter highlights really show through her dark, chestnut base making her haircolor look so flawless and effortless.” – Tracey Cunningham

Trend #2: Blondes: “Blondes will be blonde this fall – think Drew Barrymore’s cool, nearly platinum blonde shade for this inspiration. Client’s can often be concerned with the cost to achieve and keep the perfect shade of blonde, but I find that women cut back in other areas rather than haircolor as it’s one of a consumers’ most prominent and most seen everyday accessory!” – Tracey Cunningham

Fall Hair Trends by ghd Ambassadors

Who is better to ask what’s hot when it comes to hair this fall other than the hair stylists who spend their time doing hair for the runway, ghd Ambassadors: Omar Lopez, Craig Carter, and Andy Bodine.

ghd Ambassadors Omar Lopez, Craig Carter, Andy Bodine, were kind enough to share with Talking Makeup their take on Fall Hair Trends:

From Omar Lopez, ghd Media Ambassador: Movement Is Back with Curling Just The Ends

Movement is back in, but this season, the focus is all on curling just the ends of the hair which is simple and sleek and easy to do. Prep the hair with ghd fat hair lotion and blowdry. The product is heat activated and works the same way mascara does on lashes, using rayon micro fibers to pump up each strand. Play up overall volume by applying from roots to ends, then follow with a little more on just the ends of the hair. This will plump up ends and allow for long lasting fat curls.

Use the ghd IV styler to straighten the length of the hair, then when you reach the ends, turn the styler 180 degrees to create a slight curl. Finally, use just your fingers to ruffle up the ends to create a slightly tousled look and you have one of the hottest looks for fall!
