“CSI:Miami” Eva La Rue Interviews With Marta Walsh
Last year I had an amazing opportunity to interview “CSI:Miami” star Eva La Rue about her beauty secrets. Eva was such pleasure to chat with. She was the sweetest!
I would like to share with my interview with Eva La Rue, just in case you’ve missed it.
Eva La Rue is the beautiful actress best known for her role of Natalia Boa Vista on CSI: Miami. Beginning season 5, Eva became a full-time cast member. Previous to CSI: Miami, Eva La Rue portrayed Dr. Maria Santos Grey on All My Children. In this interview, Eva La Rue reveals some of her beauty secrets, her romantic engagement in Africa, what some people may not know about her, and her movie with Samuel L. Jackson called: Lakeview Terrace.
I keep my hair beautiful thanks to…
I have really oily hair, I have girlfriends who can go three days without washing their hair. My hair gets oily overnight. I do use a dry shampoo that extends my wash by one day, but no more than that. I use a Fortifying Deep Conditioning Sleek & Shine by Fructis by Garnier. It also works really well when you want to dry your hair straight.
My favorite skincare products are…
I use Astara Bio Genic Skincare. Of all the creams I have used, it’s the only brand I re-buy. Astara is by far the most active. It supposed to be all natural too. Sometimes I see their masks at Sephora but I don’t think they carry the whole line, so I always order Astara Skincare products online.
I get my eyelashes looking long, full, and sexy using…
Revita-Lash. It’s pricey, $140, but it really works. It gives you spider leg long lashes. I was skeptical first. But for some reason, I put on false eye lashes, I pulled them and it pulled a whole chunk of my lashes, so I was desperate. You have to give it 3 weeks to work, and then you notice you have Daddy Long Leg size eye lashes.
New York Fashion Spring 2010 Trend Report: Maria Grachvogel
The Show: Maria Grachvogel
Lead Artist: James Boehmer, NARS Cosmetics International Lead Makeup Artist
Trend: Bold Red Matte Lips and Strong Brows
Inspiration: Maria Grachvogel used iconic references of Princess Margaret as photographed by Lord Snowden and Tippi Hedren in “Marnie” to convey the mood of her collection in a modern way- polished yet glamorous.
Look: The look is polished and strong- inspired by a glamorous and modern twist of Hitchcock’s femme fatale. “This look is not about the glowing skin underneath- it’s about the makeup- the brows need to be long and sketchy and the lips need to be rounded and bee-stung,” said lead artist James Boehmer. A flat, matte lip paired with a strong brow was balanced by a bare eye. “The lip,” James warns, “has to be really rich and vibrant- the focus is getting that rich lip otherwise the look can appear as if something is lacking.”
Below are some key products and steps for recreating the look:
How To Get Vanessa Williams Makeup Look at the Emmy Awards 2009
At this year’s Emmy Awards, Vanessa Williams went for all-out glamour. She chose a dress with lots of color and her hair was down, long and loose, for the first time in three years. To balance out the look, legendary makeup artist Sam Fine focused on a flawless skin with a pop of color in the cheeks and lips.
“It all starts with great skin,” says Fine. “It’s a long night, with long hours and we don’t get to go with them. Foundation and powder are so important.”
To get Vanessa’s great face, Sam started with cream foundation. “Cream foundation will last throughout the night,” states Sam. Next, he used bronzer to contour the face, drawing attention to each feature.
Vanessa’s dress made Fine to do a little shopping. “Because Vanessa’s dress choice was such a strong color, this forced me to re-address the neutrals I had in my kit,” admits Fine. “I wanted to go for a little more color in the cheek, as well as the lip, so I needed to find the perfect coral-pink shade, because true pink can be hard to wear.”

Estée Lauder To Close Prescriptives
Not great news for all the Prescriptives beauty junkies out there. Estée Lauder announced last week that it would close the global wholesale distribution of its Prescriptives brand by January 31, 2010. The brand plans to continue to sell online for United States shipping at www.prescriptives.com to help service consumers for replenishment of key products, while inventory lasts. Prescriptives products are currently sold in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Australia.
“We believe that the difficult decision relating to Prescriptives will allow us to redirect our resources to key strategic imperatives where we see the highest growth potential,” said Fabrizio Freda, President and Chief Executive Officer, The Estée Lauder Companies. “Ultimately this action allows us to focus on those areas which we expect to benefit the Company, our shareholders and business partners. We intend to work closely with our retail partners and continue to communicate with our consumers to ensure a seamless transition.”
Prescriptives Fragrance Calyx: Sources tell us that the Prescriptives fragrance Calyx, which is a favorite among consumers, will continue to be distributed through Aramis and Designer Fragrances and sold at the fragrance bar in select fine department stores and online beginning February 1st.
New York Fashion Week Spring 2010 Hair Trends: Carolina Herrera
The Show: Carolina Herrera
The Trend: Fine-textured low twisted chignons with touches of delicate long strings of intricate seed-beads swept throughout strands of the hair.
The Inspiration: The Carolina Herrera Spring 2010 collection was inspired by intricate forms woven in Japanese baskets. The texture of the fabrics and prints was taken from patterns found in the details of these baskets. Colors including amber, rose and caramel were drawn from the waning light cast at the end of a summer’s day, with the luminous quality of this light reflected in the fabrics and embroidery used for evening.
The Hair: Orlando Pita, using Moroccanoil, created beautiful, fine-textured low twisted chignons with touches of delicate long strings of intricate seed-beads swept throughout strands of the hair. The looks, created with Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream, highlighted smooth elegance with a natural ease, texture and flow.
“We used argan-oil infused Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream to prime the hair and give it a natural-looking, frizz-free texture with a soft hold,” noted Pita. “The beads were designed to blend subtly through the hair; appearing almost as if they’re embedded in the strands themselves.” Pita plays with texture and keeps the look relaxed and piece-y, without stiffness or tight structure (Tip: Rather than using a brush to blow-dry strands, Pita mussed hair with his fingers as he blow-dried to enhance the tresses’ natural separation and create further definition.)
