Lancôme & The Row Fall 2010

The Row, the collection designed by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, had its Fashion Week debut yesterday, February 16, 2010, at a gallery on New York’s west side. The line has earned a following for its simple yet sophisticated structured pieces and the new collection continued beautifully on that theme.

Makeup Tutorial: Lancôme’s creative director for makeup Aaron De Mey keyed the show. Aaron sought an exaggerated yet natural makeup look that focused on strong, defined brows and a dewy complexion. The neutral color palette meant that skincare played an important role. To prep, Aaron used Lancôme Eau Fraiche Douceur Micellar Cleansing Water and followed it with Lancôme Genifique Youth Activating Concentrate massaged generously into the skin; this duo gave each model a luminous complexion. Lancôme Le Crayon Poudre filled and defined the brows—a focal point of this look. To finish, Aaron dabbed Lancôme Effeacernes Concealer on the lips, a trick that removed the natural lip color and kept the focus squarely on the brows.

Everyone backstage and front of house was obsessed with the braided black Louboutin sandals made exclusively for the show. (And the models were clearly happy to get a break from all the skyscraper heels!) Mary-Kate and Ashley chose a deep wine colored polish –Lancôme Le Vernis in Untamed Plum – for the toes, but kept the fingernails clean and shiny with a coat of clear nail polish.

Skyn Iceland Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels

Eye Treatments: Skyn Iceland Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels are just what the doctor ordered before my trip to New York City for Fashion Week. I needed something like this: fresh, cooling, and pampering! My dark under circles just got an upgrade. We’re happy!

The Elle Make Better Program DVD Series To Star Model Brooklyn Decker

ELLE, the number one global fashion magazine, announces the ELLE Make Better Program and DVD Series. The Make Better program is a multiplatform initiative surrounding fitness, fashion and beauty content that includes a themed January issue, a dedicated website and a three-DVD set hosted by and starring model Brooklyn Decker.

ELLE is turning the dated notion of the “makeover” on its head and instead focusing on new ways to look at fashion, beauty and fitness through simple, yet strategic adjustments to one’s everyday life. Spending unnecessary time, money and energy on a new wardrobe, overhauling one’s closet or engaging in expensive beauty and fitness regimes is out–so beginning with the January 2010 Make Better Issue, ELLE will demonstrate how to make small tweaks to readers’ lifestyles that offer big results. ELLE will also feature Make Better edit in the beauty/fitness section throughout 2010, inspiring you to continue striving to improve your life. The program will be sponsored by Reebok, which will integrate its fitness apparel and Easy Tone technology into the DVDs and custom advertorials in the January issue.

butter LONDON Nail Polish Collection

I had the luxury to discover the butter London nail polish collection backstage at Betsey Johnson Spring 2009 Collection. I was in love with the funky shades, particularly the super sparkly butter London in Rosie Lee. What I also noticed that Rosie Lee was layered with other shades, such as: British Racing Green. The overall effect complimented Betsey Johnson’s super funky and playful collection. Other shades include: Minger. Scoundrel. Pearly Queen.

What else: butter LONDON stormed NYC Fashion Week this season (SS 2010), with the introduction of British Racing Green. Hand mixed by their Creative Director Nonie Creme for the Vena Cava show, this shade has already been noticed by Vogue, W Magazine, Lucky, Ladies Home Journal, and Redbook.

butter London is free of harsh chemicals nail collection.

Scottsdale Fashion Week 2009

As you probably already know I’m based in Scottsdale Arizona a place I love so much. This is why I was excited to take part in this year’s Scottsdale Fashion Week (SFW) and get to know my fashionable neighbours. Last night I was invited to attend a fabulous designers party at the equally fabulous Intercontinental Montelucia Resort & Spa in Paradise Valley Arizona. Wow, what an evening. The weather couldn’t be any more perfect and the Montelucia resort where the party took place was breathtaking. I was trying to take photos, but couldn’t capture how beautiful it was around there last night. Just imagine, beautiful clear dark sky, lots of palm trees, fire features around amazing pools, chocolate desserts, and beautifully dressed people.

The highlight of my evening at the SFW was finally getting to chat with LA Fashion Designer Kevan Hall who his sleek eveningwear was worn by a distinguished coterie of celebrated artists- including Celine Dion, Sharon Stone, Angela Bassett, Charlize Theron, and Salma Hayek. I’ve been at his show over a year ago during LA Fashion Week and was so glad to bump into him. After I introduced myself to Kevan I asked why Scottsdale Fashion Week? He said that Scottsdale is known to be a city who is into fashion and he has clients from Scottsdale who fly to LA especially to shop in his studio. He also agreed with me how gorgeous Scottsdale is. Kevan also talked to me about the colors he likes to use in his designs, and he mentioned that he likes to use unexpected colors and unique shade of colors. I had to ask him if he approves my outfit. I went for a rock chic look because I can’t afford to buy Kevan Hall, yet, I told him. He said yes, and I felt like the cat who got the cream. LOL.
