New York Fashion Week Spring 2010 Makeup Trend Report.

Show: Chris Benz Spring 2010 Collection
Lead Makeup Artist: Daniel Martin for Lancôme
The Trend: Coral-colored pout.

The Look: Refined 60’s party girl. Healthy skin and stand-out lips: Chris’ spring collection is full of whimsical fabrics, colorful ornamentation and texture pieces.  For the makeup Chris asked Daniel to create a sun-kissed fresh look. He wanted healthy skin and prominent lip.

Daniel gave the models a natural glow by applying GÉNIFIQUE Youth Activating Concentrate to clean skin followed by GÉNIFIQUE Eye (Available 10/15/09) to brighten and open up the eye area. The complexion was perfectly even and polished. Shu Uemura Nobara Foundation was applied to even out the skin tone and Lancôme AGELESS MINÉRALE WITH WHITE SAPPHIRE COMPLEX (A perfecting and setting mineral powder) was dusted over the entire face. POP ‘N CHEEKS in Coral Flirt (Available Spring 2010) was used as a highlighter and lightly applied to the cheekbones near the temple for just a hint of color.

To define the eyes, Daniel smudged LE CRAYON KHÔL in Black Coffee on the upper and lower lash lash lines. Several coats of HYPNÔSE Mascara in Black were applied for thick, black lashes.

Lips were bright and creamy. Daniel used  L’ABSOLU ROUGE in Chris & Tell (Available Spring 2010 at Saks Fifth Avenue) for a vivid, coral-colored pout. Chris & Tell is the fifth lipstick in the POUT-A-PORTER designer lipstick series. In the meantime, the waiting list is open at Lancôme’s Upper West Side Boutique. simply call 212-362-4858 to be added to the waiting list.

How To Get Kay Panabaker’s Makeup Look at the Premiere of FAME

Kay Panabaker, star in the new movie “Fame”, made her mark on the red carpet at the movie’s LA Premiere! mark celebrity makeup artist Jamie Greenberg explains how she created Kay’s gorgeous red carpet look.

Eyes:  “Kay wore a gorgeous red dress, so we wanted to go glam for her look. For her eyes, I started by applying mark I-Mark Custom Pick Eyeshadow in Biscotti as a wash all over her eye and then smudged mark I-Mark Custom Pick Eyeshadow in Luvstruck in her creases. Next, I added mark I-Mark Custom Pick Eyeshadow in Fairy Dust to her inner corners and a little Plum Velvet on the outside crease. New York Fashion Week Spring 2010 Makeup Trends: Marc Jacobs

Show: Marc Jacobs Spring 2010
Lead Artist: François Nars, Founder and Creative Director of NARS Cosmetics
Trend: Theatrical Makeup

Inspiration: The look of the Marc Jacobs collection was inspired by the contemporary dancer, Martha Graham: Old-fashioned and theatrical but graceful and precise. At the same time, however, there was a darker side that was shone through: a quality of gothic romance. Ballerinas with a sense of mystery- as if part of them, along with some of their makeup, had been left behind on stage.

Look: Left-over stage makeup. The models weren’t meant to have perfect makeup- rather, they were meant to encompass a “just came off-stage” effect. “Dancers in theater and opera always have white faces, pointed lips and an eye that is drawn outward, not upward-it’s very theatrical, very ballet,” said François Nars. He stressed the importance of the eye for this look, noting that “the shape of the eyeliner is important- it should open the eyes, especially underneath. The slashes of white is something they used to do in the 70s- it brings a 3-dimensional feeling to the makeup.”

Below are some key products and steps for recreating the look:

How To Get Kherington Payne’s Makeup Look at the Premier of FAME

Lancôme celebrity makeup artist Vanessa Scali worked her magic on Fame star Kherington Payne at the movie’s Los Angeles premiere last night. Talking Makeup got on the inside scoop behind the rising star’s graphic, smokey eye, pretty golden skin and shimmery nude mouth.

To start, Vanessa prepped the skin with Lancôme’s Génifique Youth Activating Concentrate, which kept Kherington’s skin fresh in the 100 degree heat. Lancôme’s Effacernes in Light Bisque –Vanessa’s favorite formula—was dabbed underneath the eyes. Bobbi Brown’s Foundation Stick was applied on select areas with a small brush and blended with the fingers.

Lancôme’s Blush Subtil in Sheer Amourose delivered a glowy look and was accented with Giorgio Armani Beauty’s Fluid Sheer #2 on the cheek and brow bones. A dusting of Lancôme’s Photôgenic Sheer Loose Powder, just on the T-zone.

For Kherington’s dramatic eyes, Vanessa layered Shu Uemura’s Pressed Eye Shadow in ME Black #990 and ME Olive #471.

“FlashForward” Star Christine Woods Interviews With Marta Walsh

Today marks the premier of much anticipated ABC series: FlashForward. Now, I’ve watched the trailer and the script looks very captivating. The FlashForward story line is about what happens when everyone on Earth blacks out, only to awake and be able to foresee the future. The show was created by David S. Goyer who also wrote the screenplays for Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and The Flash.

I’m excited to bring to you an interview with star of FlashForward, Christine Woods. Christine plays the role of Janis Hawk FBI Agent at the Los Angeles Field Office with superior analysis abilities. Her character is a bit of a tomboy with a quick wit, and was trained at the Academy with fellow agent Demetri Noh (played by actor John Cho).

In this interview Christine Woods talks to Marta Walsh about her love for acting. What attracted her to the role of Janis Hawk in the new ABC series FalshForward. Her meeting with actor Joseph Fiennes on the set. reveals what’s in her makeup bag. What some people may not know about Christine and future plans.

Marta Walsh: How did you decide on a career in acting, and what were some of your first breaks as an actress?
Christine Woods: I was a singer and a dancer my whole life. I was a musical theatre major in college. I moved out to LA about 4 and half years ago and started auditioning every day. I did couple of guest stars here and there. This is honestly my first big break.

Watch ABC’s FlashForward trailer here:

MW: What attracted you to Janis Hawk character on the new ABC series Flash Forward? How much of Janis’ personality is similar or different to yours?
CW: I read the script, it was pretty small role. I was more taken by the script and story as a whole, and of course by the creator, David S. Goyer. David is absolutely brilliant and I love his work. I’m also very interested in strong female characters. Janis Hawk is intelligent and smart. She is a career woman. She is in a job that is predominantly male. I’m always fascinated with women who can do that. It’s atypical for a woman to rise to top of the FBI world.

How To Get Hayden Panettiere’s Makeup Look at the Emmy Awards 2009

Celebrity Makeup Artist Amy Oresman created Neutrogena brand ambassador Hayden Panettiere’s look for the 2009 Emmy awards, where Hayden presented the award for Best Reality Host, and shares how you can achieve this glam look at home.

Amy’s Inspiration: Hayden sought a classic red lip to match her gorgeous J Mendel gown, so I looked to her Italian heritage, and her recent vacation in Italy, for inspiration and designed a look you’d find on glamorous women in Rome.

Prep: I believe in the old adage that “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” so careful attention was paid to Hayden’s skincare prior to the Emmy’s. Hayden’s choice is skin iD, personalized acne system from Neutrogena Dermatologics

Eyes: To give Hayden’s lashes maximum impact I used three coats of the NEUTROGENA Healthy Volume Mascara in Carbon Black.
