Tippi Shorter Avon Global Stylist Advisor Interviews With Marta Walsh

I’m excite to share with you my interview with Avon Global Stylist Advisor Tippi Shorter

Tippi Shorter

In 1995 Tippi headed from home town, Long Beach, California to New York City, and within a year of her move she was asked to participate in a beauty feature for Essence magazine. Tippi opened Luxe Studio in Soho, but sold the successful salon after four years to pursue other career opportunities such as styling for photo shoots, music videos and commercials. Tippi is known for taming the tresses of A-list actresses, musicians, and supermodels including Alicia Keys, Rihanna, Jennifer Hudson, Beyonce, Jada Pinkett-Smith, and Vanessa Williams, to name a few! And while her beauty masterpieces are seen on the covers and editorial pages of In Style and Vanity Fair, Tippi remains modest and humble saying “I am not a celebrity hairstylist. I am a hairstylist who happens to have the opportunity to work with many wonderful celebrities.”

Cover Girl

Did you know that the first time I’ve ever tried any makeup from Cover Girl was during New York Fashion Week Spring 2010? I can already feel many of you are surprised. Well, growing up in Israel back in those days we didn’t have many options for makeup . It was a beauty brand I was not at all familiar with. Luckily, I can’t think of a better introduction to Cover Girl, now one of my favorite makeup lines, by Jake Bailey Cover Girl’s celebrity makeup artist. I met Jake at the CVS Reinventing Beauty Lounge back in September 2009, he did my makeup using all Cover Girl products and needless to say Marta was in love!

Backstage With The Rockettes: They Do Their Own Makeup!

Great article by Petra Guglielmetti at glamour.com about the Rockettes and makeup.

It reads: Yesterday, I went backstage at Radio City Music Hall to hang with some of the Rockettes before they went onstage for the famous “Christmas Spectacular.” I expected a backstage-at-Fashion-Week vibe but was shocked to discover not one makeup artist in sight–the girls do all their own primping before every show! As a result, they know their beauty products–and they divulged their favorites just for you. Read on.

First, let me take you backstage at the show. (Have you ever seen it? If not, you must! There’s nothing like those iconic, perfectly synchronized kick lines. Here’s a link to the best ticket offer of the season; the show was recently extended through January 3.)

Rachel McAdams at the Sherlock Holmes London Premiere: Get The Look

Love Rachel McAdams hairdo at the ‘Sherlock Holmes’ London Premiere? Talking Makeup has the scoop on how to get Rachel’s hairstyle thanks to Sebastian Stylist Design Team Member Thomas Dunkin!

For the world premiere event of the highly-anticipated Sherlock Holmes movie, Sebastian Stylist Design Team Member Thomas Dunkin styled actress Rachel McAdams’ tresses to complement her Grecian-inspired gown for a red carpet look that radiated grace and glam. All eyes were on Sherlock’s leading lady’s asymmetrical, loosely textured side braid styled by Thomas Dunkin.

Thomas shares styling tips for recreating Rachel’s red carpet look at home:

1. Start by applying a volumizing product like Sebastian Professional Texturizer to wet hair.
2. Blow dry in sections, and pin each section in medium and large sized Velcro rollers throughout whole head and allow to set for 5-10 minutes.
3. Allow to cool then take down rollers, and spray hair with a dry shampoo for added texture.
4. Emulsify a small dab of Sebastian Professional Microweb Fiber between palms and run through top of hair. Backcomb front section and manipulate for height and volume. Secure with pins.
