Erin Kaplan Interviews with Marta Walsh

I’m so excited to share with you my interview with the gorgeous Erin Kaplan. You may know Erin from staring in MTV’s hit series The City opposite Whitney Port and Olivia Palermo. And, at 26, Erin is ELLE Magazine’s youngest ever Director of Public Relations.

In this interview Erin Kaplan talks to Marta Walsh about her beginnings working at ELLE Magazine. How working with Joe Zee ELLE Magazine’s Creative Director has changed the way she’s thinking. Puts the on camera drama with co-star Olivia Palermo in perspective. She even dishes out some style and beauty secrets and reveals another secret about her hair.

Marta Walsh: When did your fascination with fashion and style begin?
Erin Kaplan: Honestly, it wasn’t until I started working at ELLE that I really became interested in fashion. I grew up with three brothers so there definitely wasn’t a lot of fashion-talk around the house. However, I have always been interested (obsessed really) with magazines and publishing…

Dior Addict Perfume

On my last visit to Sephora (which happened to be today) I fell in LOVE with Dior Addict perfume. At the moment I’m into woodsy and oriental type of scent. I love warm notes like vanilla. But more over, I’m into perfumes that are unique, different, and definitely sexy. It must be a little genius 🙂

Dior Addict Eau de Parfum Spray fragrance notes: Silk Tree Flower, Mandarin Leaf, Orange Blossom, Night Queen Flower, Bulgarian Rose, Bourbon Vanilla Absolute, Mysore Sandalwood, Tonka Bean.

PIERRE CARDIN 60 YEARS OF INNOVATION By Jean-Pascal Hesse

ASSOULINE Announces the Release of PIERRE CARDIN: 60 YEARS OF INNOVATION By Jean-Pascal Hesse.

“Geometric motifs, asymmetry, oversized buttons and collars, hooped dresses, vinyl inserts-Cardin is an original in every sense of the word.”

ASSOULINE - Pierre Cardin: 60 Years of Innovation

ASSOULINE is delighted to celebrate the sixtieth anniversary of the Masion Cardin, with the publication of a commemorative retrospective of the work of its founder, fashion designer Pierre Cardin.

Born in 1922 in San Biagio di Callalta, near Venice, Pierre Cardin immigrated to Paris in 1924. After working briefly with Elsa Schiaparelli, Cardin joined Dior in 1946 and opened his own couture house in 1950. He was a pioneer from the start, creating a design-based, architectural fashion with a futurist sensibility. Cardin also had an avant-garde understanding of fashion’s relationship to new audiences, presenting his collections to large crowds. He was the first to demonstrate that fashion can be both a creative process and a business-and that one man can excel as both a businessman and an artist.

Marion Cottilard at the 2010 Golden Globes

GET THE LOOK: Love Marion Cottilard hairdo at the 2010 Golden Globe Awards? Marion Cotillard’s dramatic Golden Globe hair look, created by master stylist Robert Vetica, complemented her elegant Dior gown with a subtle touch of rock and roll.

Manicurist Deborah Lippmann polished off some of Hollywood’s hottest looks at the Golden Globes on Sunday. Past Golden Globe winner Marion Cotillard wore Don’t Tell Mama. The young and modern shade was the perfect accent to her green Dior gown.

“I wanted a look that was glamorous, but with an edge,” said Vetica, “and was inspired by the rock and roll pompadours of the 50s, further strengthened with a sleek, modern French twist. Since shiny, healthy-looking hair was essential to the look, I first applied argan oil-infused Moroccanoil Treatment to wet hair, and blow dried it straight using a diffuser to keep a bit of natural texture. Then I pincurled the entire head front to back, so that hair would easily flow back and up into the pompadour shape. After releasing the pin curls, I ran Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream through the hair with my hands. After brushing back and up, I back combed the top, and pulled the sides back tight, leaving some volume on top. Next, I twisted the hair into a tight french twist which was then asymetrically attached with eye-catching diamond hair clips created by Chopard. I fishined the look with a light misting of Moroccanoil Glimmer Shine Spray to give Marion’s hair a beautiful, naturally luminous shine.”

DiorShow Extase Mascara

I got my hands on the NEW DiorShow Extase Mascara by Dior the Bentley of mascaras and my lashes are loving it! I’m a sucker to a mascara that gives my lashes that instant volume and definition boost. You feel it working right away. My lashes are hitting my brow line at the moment. Fact. 🙂

The first mascara to plump lashes inside and out—wear it alone or pair it with your favorite Dior mascaras. DiorShow Extase ($28) provides built-in treatment benefits and high-impact lashes in a single stroke! The spherical-shaped Black Pearl Pigments create a 3D volume effect and the exclusive Metamorphosis Powders expand in size by up to 50% after application. Also, SR38 Patented Ceramid brings additional care, reconstructing damaged lashes and promoting stronger and fuller lashes.

Capture Totale ONE Essential Skin Boosting Super Serum

The latest beauty luxury by Dior Beauty: Capture Totale ONE Essential Skin Boosting Super Serum which will launch exclusively at Macy’s on December 15th, 2009. Capture Totale ONE then will roll out to other department and specially stores January 2010. The MSRP on One Essential is $95. Be on the look out for the Capture Totale One Essential advertisement and marketing program in February 2010 issue of O Magazine!

I had the luxury to try Capture Totale ONE Essential Skin Boosting Super Serum and fall in love with it in an instant. The serum is very light, non greasy, and quenches my skin immediately. I also love the packaging, I know it’s not totally related to skincare, but I like that I can dispense the serum with a pump. This way I have more control on how much to apply and not get my hands in the serum.

Sharon Stone at the Late Show with David Letterman

Frederic Fekkai SoHo’s Andre Rodman transformed the tresses of Sharon Stone, taking her from day to night . David Letterman to the Elton John AIDS Foundation’s “An Enduring Vision”

Sharon Stone at the Late Show with David Letterman.  Inspiration: Sixties chic to match her vintage inspired Dior Dress.

How to Get the Look: For David Letterman, Andre Rodman for Frederic Fekkai did a simple blowout using the Fekkai Extra Large Round Brush to get a stick straight bob. He parted the hair in the middle to frame her face, with a few wispy bangs falling to the front of her face. He created body and fullness at the crown using the Fekkai Full Blown Volume Spray. Finally, he finished the blow dry using Fekkai Top Coat Serum to finish the look.

Kali Hawk Interviews With Marta Walsh

I’m excited to share with you my interview with actress Kali Hawk.

Kali’s film role came in the Lion’s Gate thriller ‘Holla‘, which cast Kali alongside Michael Bergin as the sweet, unsuspecting camper Caprice. She would follow that project with a supporting role in the Spike Lee comedy ‘Lovers & Haters’, playing a scathing Hollywood diva opposite singer/superstar Mariah Carey. On television, she has also appeared on the hit CW sitcom ‘The Game’, executive produced by Kelsey Grammer. Kali’s recent film roles include: Trudy in ‘Couple’s Retreat’ next to Vince Vaughn, Malin Akerman, and Kristen Bell. And her role as Chantal in Judd Apatow’s film ‘Get Him To The Greek’ next to Russell Brand, Jonah Hill, and Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs.

Kali Hawk

In this interview Kali Hawk talk to Marta Walsh about when she has found her love for movies and acting. What was it like on the set with Mariah Carey in Spike Lee’s film: Lovers and Haters. Her dream acting role. What’s in her makeup bag and future plans.

Chatting with Kali was such a pleasure. She was sweet, funny and witty. I would like to thank you Kali for taking the time to talk to me!

Marta Walsh: Where is your hometown?
Kali Halk: I’m based in LA these days but I’m from New York originally. My family has been in New York for at least 150 years. My mom and I were born in Manhattan; my dad was born in the Bronx. My grandmother went to Hunter College when it was still an all girl’s school. I didn’t like LA at first naturally. But now that my professional and social network has been expanded I’m starting to love it more.

How To Get Scarlett Johannson’s Hairdo

I’m getting mixed comments on Scarlett Johansson’s hairdo At The Moet & Chandon Tribute To Cinema. Some, like myself  love it, and some don’t. I thought to bring to you the scoop on how to get Scarlett’s hairdo, anyways, just in case you do want to try this look at home.

Celebrity hairdresser David Babaii traveled across the ocean to Tokyo, Japan to create this Red Carpet look for actress Scarlett Johannson at the Moet & Chandon “Tribute to Cinema” event on October 20, 2009.

The hair jewelry worn by Scarlett Johannson is DeBeers. Scarlett’s dress was Givenchy with Dior shoes.

To create this “power look” and accentuate her fire red dress, David Babaii took Scarlett Johansson’s long strawberry blonde hair and transformed her tresses into a dramatic side swept, short textured bob. After rough drying her locks with Hair Polish applied to damp hair, David loosely twirled large sections of hair and sprayed them with Bohemian Beach Spray, while finishing the drying process.
