Toni Collette at the 2010 Golden Globes
GET THE LOOK: Thanks to Celebrity Makeup Artist Gita Bass Talking Makeup has the scoop on how to get Toni Collette’s radiant look at the 67th Golden Globe Awards last night.
“For Toni Collette I combined warm healthy skin with a bronze metallic smoky eye and nude glossy lip” according to Gita. She prepped her eyes with AMOREPACIFIC Moisture Bound Intensive Vitalizing Eye Complex (available at Sephora.com) to reduce any puffiness and to ensure the concealer and shadow stay in place all night. To create the perfect canvas for a flawless radiant complexion, Gita prepped Toni’s skin with AMOREPACIFIC Moisture Bound Refreshing Hydra Gel. The whole look was set with AMOREPACIFIC Moisture Bound Skin Energy Spray for a final touch of hydration and staying power.
“I added a layer of La Mer’s The Body Crème to keep her skin looking glowing and radiant. To keep her face looking flawless I used The Radiant Concealer SPF 25 under her eyes and on any redness. I prepped her lips with the amazing La Mer Lip Balm to keep them full and hydrated all night long.” added Gita.

ODD HABITS: Humming while doing makeup.
FUN FACTS: If there is a dog in the room, I ignore people in favour of the dog!
Q: What’s so special about Halloween?
A: Halloween is exhilarating makeup time! It’s the time of year when you can let all your alter egos come out! Whether your thing is drag, scary monsters or celebrity impersonations, just have fun!
Q: What are you planning to be for Halloween?
A: I don’t dress up! I just love watching all the action in the streets. I live in the East Village in New York, and the fun part is just watching everybody come out and play. Even if sometimes it’s hard to tell if it’s a Halloween look or just a colourful neighbour.
From villainous vamps to dolled-up demons, M∙A∙C Senior Artists Bianca Alexander, Luc Bouchard, Keri Blair, Sandy Joseph and Chantel Miller revel in the ghouls – and glamour – of Halloween
Q: What are the products you most often use during Halloween?
A: I would say I love MAC Studio Finish SPF 35 Concealer as a base. That way, you basically have a blank canvas and you can create anything you want. “FlashForward” Star Christine Woods Interviews With Marta Walsh
Today marks the premier of much anticipated ABC series: FlashForward. Now, I’ve watched the trailer and the script looks very captivating. The FlashForward story line is about what happens when everyone on Earth blacks out, only to awake and be able to foresee the future. The show was created by David S. Goyer who also wrote the screenplays for Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and The Flash.
I’m excited to bring to you an interview with star of FlashForward, Christine Woods. Christine plays the role of Janis Hawk FBI Agent at the Los Angeles Field Office with superior analysis abilities. Her character is a bit of a tomboy with a quick wit, and was trained at the Academy with fellow agent Demetri Noh (played by actor John Cho).
In this interview Christine Woods talks to Marta Walsh about her love for acting. What attracted her to the role of Janis Hawk in the new ABC series FalshForward. Her meeting with actor Joseph Fiennes on the set. reveals what’s in her makeup bag. What some people may not know about Christine and future plans.
Marta Walsh: How did you decide on a career in acting, and what were some of your first breaks as an actress?
Christine Woods: I was a singer and a dancer my whole life. I was a musical theatre major in college. I moved out to LA about 4 and half years ago and started auditioning every day. I did couple of guest stars here and there. This is honestly my first big break.
Watch ABC’s FlashForward trailer here:
MW: What attracted you to Janis Hawk character on the new ABC series Flash Forward? How much of Janis’ personality is similar or different to yours?
CW: I read the script, it was pretty small role. I was more taken by the script and story as a whole, and of course by the creator, David S. Goyer. David is absolutely brilliant and I love his work. I’m also very interested in strong female characters. Janis Hawk is intelligent and smart. She is a career woman. She is in a job that is predominantly male. I’m always fascinated with women who can do that. It’s atypical for a woman to rise to top of the FBI world.
New York Fashion Spring 2010 Trend Report: Maria Grachvogel
The Show: Maria Grachvogel
Lead Artist: James Boehmer, NARS Cosmetics International Lead Makeup Artist
Trend: Bold Red Matte Lips and Strong Brows
Inspiration: Maria Grachvogel used iconic references of Princess Margaret as photographed by Lord Snowden and Tippi Hedren in “Marnie” to convey the mood of her collection in a modern way- polished yet glamorous.
Look: The look is polished and strong- inspired by a glamorous and modern twist of Hitchcock’s femme fatale. “This look is not about the glowing skin underneath- it’s about the makeup- the brows need to be long and sketchy and the lips need to be rounded and bee-stung,” said lead artist James Boehmer. A flat, matte lip paired with a strong brow was balanced by a bare eye. “The lip,” James warns, “has to be really rich and vibrant- the focus is getting that rich lip otherwise the look can appear as if something is lacking.”

New York Fashion Week Spring 2010 Trend Report: Marchesa
NARS Cosmetics created the makeup look at the Marchesa SS2010 show.
Lead Artist: Talia Shobrook for NARS Cosmetics
Trend: Long Feathered Lashes
Inspiration: The inspiration behind the collection came from Madame Butterfly. “I wanted to capture the real look of Japan, create layers and bits of origami,” said designer Georgina Chapman. The whimsical creations based in sculpted layers balanced the soft, bare faces that were accentuated with long lashes.
Look: Very simple, romantic and beautiful skin contoured with varying formulas. “We contoured the skin with matte and shimmery textures and added feathers to the eyes to provide dimension to the face,” explained lead artist Talia Shobrook. A matte face was illuminated with a bit of shimmer. Feather lashes, custom created by NARS from the feathers on the Marchesa dresses, gave excitement to an otherwise simple look.
